Balducci statement following the Sound Transit Board’s approval to employ Julie Timm as the new CEO of Sound Transit

Summary

Sound Transit Board System Expansion Committee Chair and King County Council Chair Claudia Balducci released a statement following the Board’s approval to employ Julie Timm as the new CEO of Sound Transit.

Story

Sound Transit Board System Expansion Committee Chair and King County Council Chair Claudia Balducci released the following statement following the Board’s approval to employ Julie Timm as the new CEO of Sound Transit:

“I’m looking forward to working with Julie Timm as we take on Sound Transit’s big challenges and even bigger opportunities to build great transit across the Central Puget Sound Region. It’s no small task to lead an agency that is simultaneously constructing and operating the nation’s largest and fastest growing transit system. I believe Julie will excel in this role.

“Julie’s experience in operations, leadership, and her passion to deliver great transit solutions to diverse communities will serve both the agency staff and Sound Transit’s growing ridership well. As chair of the Sound Transit Board’s System Expansion Committee, I can’t wait to join her to build our projects faster, while also ensuring we are transparent and accountable to the public and our partners.

“Together, I’m confident we can make good on the promises made to Sound Transit voters, which is ultimately about making our region more livable and economically competitive by getting people where they want to go easily and affordably.”
