Wastewater discharge authorization for metal finishing businesses
The King County Industrial Waste Program (KCIW) issues waste discharge permits to metal finishing facilities that discharge wastewater to the King County sewage system.
Metal finishers are one of the largest industrial business sectors that we regulate, next to food processing. We work with metal finishers to ensure that discharges from these operations meet federal categorical pretreatment standards and the county's local limits for pollutants to protect human health, the environment, and the public's investment in wastewater facilities. How to get formal authorization

Complete the standard Industrial Waste Program Survey

Include the Delegation of Signatory Authority form (if necessary)

Complete the Metal Finishing Supplementary Questionaire

Submit forms with required signatures to King County Industrial Waste
Print and sign the application. Scan the signed documents and email it to the King County Industrial Waste program at info.KCIW@kingcounty.gov.
