How to request public records

King County's records portal, GovQA, is our preferred method. 

Note the following options, depending on the type of record you're seeking:

Note: Washington State considers many records about people in custody confidential and exempt from disclosure. See RCW 70.40.100 for more details.

You may also submit a request via email, phone or postal mail

If you use one of these methods, a GovQA account will be created for you.

When making a request, you must provide a call back number, an email or a mailing address. Without contact information, we are unable to respond.
