The King County Sheriff’s Office, with the help of DNA and Ancestry Research and dogged commitment, brought closure to the December 14th, 1991 murder of Sarah Yarborough.

King County Councilmember Pete von Reichbauer applauded the efforts of the Sheriff’s Office in making an arrest in the case, despite nearly 30 years passing since Yarborough was killed

“The message from today’s press conference is that King County will never forget the victims of crimes, nor forgive their assailants,” von Reichbauer said.

A bench honoring Sarah’s memory is on the campus of Federal Way High School, and shows her backpack, a pair of ballet slippers, books, a dog and the simple words: Carpe Diem.
