King County Councilmember De’Sean Quinn is issuing the following statement in advance of thousands of county residents gathering to protest Donald Trump’s unprecedented and racist immigration raids.

“This weekend, Americans from every corner of this great nation will take to the streets to express their outrage and heartbreak over the recent immigration raids and the unprecedented, un-American deployment of military forces in Los Angeles.

“I stand with those raising their voices—but I urge residents of King County to do so peacefully. Our power lies in our unity, our discipline, and our unwavering commitment to justice through nonviolence. Let us show the world that we are unafraid to speak out, and unwilling to be divided. Let us march with strength, dignity, and love of humanity. Stay safe. Stay peaceful. Stay unified. Stay proud.”
