About the committee

The Budget and Fiscal Management Committee considers and makes recommendations on the county revenue and expenditure fiscal structural gap, capital and operating budget appropriations. It also considers the sale, lease or transfer of real property to or by the county; debt and investment proposals; bond issues; matters pertaining to the Office of Economic and Financial Analysis; levies (unless referred to another committee); supplemental appropriations related to the COVID-19 pandemic response; and financial policies. The committee shall develop recommendations on policy direction for the county budget, based on the recommendations of other council committees, and takes into account the estimated fiscal impacts of state and federal legislation.

Attend committee meetings

When: Regular meetings are the second and fourth Wednesdays of each month at 9:30 a.m. See the meeting calendar and agendas. During budget season there are many additional meetings. See budget season calendar for the full schedule of BFM meetings.

To help us manage the meeting, if you do not wish to be called upon for public comment, please use the Livestream or King County TV options listed below to watch or listen to the meeting if possible.

You are also invited to attend evening public hearings.

Public comment should be on current agenda items only. If you would like to comment on an item not on the current agenda, you may email your Councilmember

Email

Send to budget.council@kingcounty.gov by 8 a.m. on the meeting day. Include the topic and related committee in the subject line. Comments will be forwarded to committee members and appropriate staff. 

In-person

Attend meetings in Council Chambers, 516 3rd Avenue, Room 1001, Seattle Washington.

Remotely

Provide comment remotely by attending meetings via phone or computer using the Zoom application. See attend committee meetings remotely above. You are not required to sign up in advance to provide remote public comment.
