Lakeland North Nature Park

Project information
A new King County Park is coming to South King County. Temporarily named Lakeland North Urban Nature Park, this new 20-acre park is located between Auburn and Federal Way in a narrow piece of Unincorporated King County (view location in Google Maps).
The new park will feature trails, a nature-based playground, restroom and shelters, art, parking, and other park features. A priority for this park is to make it as inclusive as possible, a place for all ages and abilities. We want to design an area where everyone can come to gather and join in their community.
As part of King County's Land Conservation Initiative the overall goal of the park is to increase access to nature and green space. Formal sport fields and sports courts will not be built but play meadows can be incorporated into the design.
Latest Updates
King County Parks is currently working to secure consultant support to move into the next phase of park design. We will work with the consultant to incorporate ideas and concerns we have heard from the community and partner groups into the park design. In 2026 Parks and the consultant will hold additional community engagement on designs to get feedback and make sure the designs reflect the community’s needs.
In addition to the design consultant, Parks is partnering with 4Culture to create an art piece for this site. This art installation process is at the beginning stages but community engagement is underway.
