Firearm dealer license

Steps to apply

  • Apply for Firearm Dealer License

    The King County Sheriff’s Office processes Firearms Dealer Licenses for firearms businesses located in our jurisdiction. This area includes unincorporated King County, and the contract cities of Beaux Arts, Burien, Carnation, Covington, Kenmore, Maple Valley, Newcastle, Sammamish, SeaTac, Shoreline, Skykomish, and Woodinville.

  • Check requirements

    • State Business License (indicating valid UBI and Dealer/Owner name) * 
    • Federal Firearms License (current AND valid) * 
    • WA state driver’s license or ID card with a photograph
    • Check or money order for $125 (made payable to "Washington State Treasurer")

    * Both licenses must reflect business name, DBA (if applicable) and current business address.  

  • Download and complete application

  • Make appointment

    All only location to apply or replace a Firearm Dealer License is King County Courthouse - downtown Seattle.  

  • Payment method and fees

    Business check (with name of business preprinted on check), money order or cashier's check are the only payment methods accepted.  Check for applicable fees

  • Proceed to appointment

    Bring completed application, fees and identification to appointment!
