Green River Road Hillside Clean-up and Restoration Project

Overview

The King County Road Services Division will perform work to maintain and restore the hillside of a King County owned property on Green River Road at 94th Place South, June 3-28. Crews will restore a portion of an existing gravel access road in the hillside area to access and remove trash, litter, and debris. They also will thin out overgrown bushes and prune trees. Additionally, the County will install signs and outdoor lighting.

The work will require a daily closure of the road from Monday, June 3 to Thursday, June 6, 6 a.m.-3:30 p.m. During this closure, access through the closure area will be available to emergency responders, school buses, the U.S. Postal Service and garbage service providers. A detour route will be provided for all other traffic.

Background

In November 2023, the King County Road Services Division implemented a roadside clean-up and no parking project on Green River Road and 94th Place South. This was the first step in a two-phase plan to enhance safety in the surrounding area. During this initial phase, the County removed 100 tons of trash, litter and debris, and secured the road right-of-way area, which includes the paved road surface and approximately 10 to 20 feet beyond. Barriers, fencing, and more than 100 “No Parking” signs were installed.

  • From June 3-28, county owned property on the hillside along the north intersection of Green River Road at 94th Place South.
  • Temporary daytime road closure: From June 3-6, Green River Road will be closed from the City of Kent limits to southern parking lot of soccer fields. 94th Place South will be closed from Green River Road to 600’ east of intersection. The closed segment does not include any adjacent private residences.
  • Only authorized staff and workers will be allowed to enter and exit the designated work zone.
