Disability Equity and Accessibility
We work to ensure that people with disabilities have equal access to County facilities, programs and services by:
Assisting departments with compliance under:
- Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) of 1990
- Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973
Serving as the County’s ADA Title II Coordinator for public access in collaboration with OERSJ ADA Coordinators

Title VI of the Civil Rights Act
We serve as the County’s Title VI Coordinator, overseeing compliance with the Civil Rights Act of 1964, which prohibits discrimination on the basis of race, color, or national origin in any program or activity receiving federal funding.
Our Title VI responsibilities include:
- Coordinating county-wide compliance efforts
- Ensuring language access and inclusive service delivery
- Investigating complaints filed under Title VI
How to File a Complaint
If you believe your civil rights have been violated, you have the right to file a complaint. To begin the process, complete the Civil Rights Inquiry Form.Completing this inquiry form is the starting point to learn if the Civil Rights Program of the King County Office of Equity and Racial and Social Justice (OERSJ) can investigate your discrimination claim. Completing this form does not mean you have filed a complaint. A member of our team will contact you after reviewing your inquiry form.

Reporting Discrimination with Other Agencies
