Heathfield Force Main Rehabilitation
The older sewer pipe at the Heathfield Pump Station is repaired and back in service.
Completed – Spring 2026
Project background
The Heathfield Pump Station uses two pressurized sewer pipes called “force mains”. One pipe was built in 1983. The other was built in 2022. These pipes carry sewage to King County’s treatment plant in Renton for cleaning.
In August 2024, the older pipe broke near the station during routine maintenance.
King County quickly fixed 100 feet of the broken pipe. The County kept the repaired pipe out of service to check its full condition. The newer pipe stayed in service.
King County repaired the rest of the older pipe and returned it to operation in fall 2025. The repaired pipe helps carry higher flows during winter storms.
The City of Bellevue checked the restored road and work areas. The City agreed that the road does not need more paving on SE 35th Place.
