Information about the Civil Service Commission and Administration for employment decisions in the King County Sheriff’s Office.
Under the authority of the Revised Code of Washington (RCW 41.14), the Civil Service Commission is responsible for the recruitment and hiring processes for the King County Sheriff's Office (KCSO).

Civil Service Commission
The Director of Human Resources for King County, Jay Osborne, has all the powers and duties of the Civil Service Commission, except for matters related to the removal, suspension, demotion, or discharge of Sheriff’s Office employees.
Under the authority of King County Code (KCC 3.14.20 and RCW 41.14.120), appeals related to the removal, suspension, demotion, or discharge of Sheriff’s Office employees will be adjudicated by a 3-person commission. The Civil Service Commission is appointed by the County Executive.
