Job description
As a corrections officer, you will ensure the safety and welfare of adults in detention. We provide ongoing training to help you build further knowledge and skills for a career in corrections.
Duties as a corrections officer include:
- Monitoring adults in secure detention facilities
- De-escalating
- Responding to emergencies
- Booking adults into detention
- Release activities
- Special assignments (investigations, training officers, etc.)
- Providing and maintaining a safe and secure environment
The minimum licensing, certifications, and other requirements are:
- A valid Washington State Driver's license
- 21 years of age by the time of hire
- High school diploma or GED
- Must pass a comprehensive pre-employment background check

King County offers a highly competitive compensation and benefits package. New corrections officers can receive $12,000 signing bonuses. Experienced applicants may be eligible for $25,000 signing bonuses, 40 hours paid vacation, and 40 hours paid sick leave upon hire. Other benefits include but are not limited to:
