Winery, brewery and distillery code update

Learn more about the winery, brewery and distillery code update.

On December 4, 2019, the King County Council adopted Ordinance 19030, which updated development regulations related to wineries, breweries and distilleries in unincorporated King County.

The Washington State Supreme Court, in a 5-4 decision, published an opinion reinstating a January 2022 order from the Growth Management Hearings Board that invalidated Ordinance 19030.

Proposed Ordinance 2024-0378 has been introduced by the Council to comply with the Supreme Court's decision.

A public hearing will be held on April 15, 2025, at 1:00 pm. Details on the hearing are below.
