Metropolitan King County Councilmember Pete von Reichbauer released this statement on today’s announcement that County Council Chair Larry Phillips will not seek reelection:

“No member of the King County Council has served the people of King County as Council Chair longer than Larry Phillips.

“The experience Larry brought to the Council included working for the King County Executive and serving in the state legislature. That experience has been put to great use by Larry in his work on the County Council and for not only his constituents, but all of King County.

“Larry has earned the respect of his colleagues as well, having been unanimously elected as chair by both a partisan and nonpartisan Council.

“I look forward to working with him throughout the rest of this year.”
