Metropolitan King County Councilmember Dave Upthegrove issued this statement on today’s announcement that County Council Chair Larry Phillips will not seek reelection:

“Larry has led the Council with a competent and steady hand during complex policy decisions and some very tense moments. He works hard and cares deeply about county government.

“I have looked up to Larry during my time on the Council and have greatly appreciated his experience and leadership.

“While Larry’s presence will be greatly missed on the Council, I’m sure he will continue to work to make King County a better place in his ‘retirement’. I look forward to serving with him for the remainder of his term.”
