Launched in 2014, the Executive's Local Food Initiative is expanding the local food economy to ensure job growth and economic viability for King County food businesses and farms. The initiative is focused on improving access to healthy, affordable food in low-income communities.

As part of its pandemic relief efforts to support regional food security, King County converted an existing facility into a co-packing space for local, small food businesses.

Is King County creating an International Public Market?

In collaboration with the Port of Seattle, King County has supported Phase 1 (market interest) and Phase 2 (potential locations and cost models) studies assessing whether such a project is feasible.
