Accessing the Individual Employment and Community Inclusion System

Checklist for accessing Individual Employment and Community Inclusion adult services

  • Apply for DSHS/DDA Services

    • Individual Employment & Community Inclusion Services are approved through Developmental Disabilities Administration (DDA).  Begin by confirming your eligibility for service with DSHS/DDA and visit the DDA Assessment process page.   
    • Request a referral to state DSHS/DVR.
  • Apply for DSHS/DVR Services

    Apply for DSHS/DVR Services

  • Apply for Supplemental Security Income (SSI)

    Apply for SSI at the Social Security Administration.
  • Identify funding

    Identify/develop funding resources (i.e. SSWI, DSHS/DVR funding options, Transition funding, KCDDECSD, or parent/family contribution) with your DSHS/DDA case manager and DSHS/DVR Counselor.
  • Research, interview, and select a service provider

    Select a provider: Individual Employment or Community Inclusion service providers


     

Who’s eligible for Community Inclusion Services?

Community Inclusion Services are available to individuals who qualify for a Home and Community Based Waiver (HCBS) and are of retirement age (62 years or older), or over 21 years of age and have tried employment services for nine months or more. Eligibility is determined by the Developmental Disabilities Administration (DDA).

Washington Relay 711: A person with a hearing loss or speech disability with specialized telecommunication equipment or a person using a standard phone may initiate a call through Washington Relay. Dial 711 to connect with a Communication Assistant, who will dial the requested number and relay the conversation between the two callers.
