“It’s long overdue” – Dunn Issues Statement in Response to Masking Update, Calls on King County To Do the Same
Summary
Lifting the mask mandate is what’s best for our community and long overdue. Our leaders must acknowledge the fact that fatigue and burnout over government mandates is high, and relying on forceful directives without the support of the public will be counterproductive in the long run for our recovery from COVID-19
Story
King County Councilmember Reagan Dunn is releasing the following statement concerning today’s announcement regarding the lifting of state mask requirements.
“Lifting the mask mandate is what’s best for our community and long overdue. Our leaders must acknowledge the fact that fatigue and burnout over government mandates is high, and relying on forceful directives without the support of the public will be counterproductive in the long run for our recovery from COVID-19.
“I believe that we all want to make good choices for ourselves and others. The heart of the matter is that King County residents deserve to be able to decide for themselves if mask wearing is what’s best for them and their families, and that power should be given back to them. King County leaders should follow suit with Washington State and end their indoor mask mandate.”
