Story
The King County Council’s Transportation, Economy, and Environment Committee on Tuesday approved the first round of three rounds of Parks Capital and Open Space Grants including a $100,000 grant to the City of Tukwila for the Tukwila Teen & Senior Center Study.
The Tukwila Teen & Senior Study seeks to serve the needs of teens and seniors in Tukwila through a community-centered process that includes passive and active recreational gathering spaces and gardens.
The Parks Capital and Open Space Grants competitive grant program is part of the voter-approved 2020-2025 Parks Levy and funds with open space acquisition, active and passive recreation projects, and local trails. In August 2019, King County residents overwhelmingly supported the Parks Levy.
“This community-driven project will result in recreational opportunities across the age spectrum in Tukwila, so regardless of age or ability, all will be able to benefit,” said King County Councilmember Dave Upthegrove, who represents that part of Tukwila.
