King County Councilmember Reagan Dunn recently completed his first round of community town hall events in 2021. These town halls, hosted in partnership with the Department of Local Services, allow Dunn to connect virtually with residents across unincorporated King County and hear about the issues that matter most to their communities.  

“From slowing COVID-19 and working to revitalize the economy, to responding to the alarming spike in crime that we are seeing — King County is dealing with a lot of challenges right now,” Dunn said. “In times like these, it’s more important than ever that I hear from the residents I represent so I can better serve them on the Council. I appreciate each person who took the time to attend one of my events.” 

“These Community Service Area Town Halls are a great opportunity for residents of unincorporated King County to get to see their local elected leaders, County officials, and other in their community.” said Department of Local Services Director John Taylor. “They are a unique platform to learn about what is happening across County government, and to share questions and concerns with County officials. As always, the people at the meetings had great questions, and we look forward to the next big community meeting in Skyway this Thursday.” 

Across the last two weeks, Dunn has hosted town hall events serving the communities of Fairwood, Greater Maple Valley/Cedar River, SE King County, and 4 Creeks/Tiger Mountain. These gatherings moved online last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, offering a chance for participants to hear directly from King County leaders and officials, ask questions, and provide feedback in a virtual format. Top issues raised by residents during the town halls included public safety, the COVID-19 response, and opposition to the proposed asphalt plant along SR-169.  

Prior to the town halls, Dunn hosted a Conference on Addiction Disorders, where residents learned about substance use disorder and available treatment from experts on the issue. In total, almost 400 County residents attended Dunn’s five events.
