Federal Way Resident Reappointed to the King County Mental Illness and Drug Dependency Advisory Committee

Summary

The Metropolitan King County Council on Tuesday confirmed the reappointment of Federal Way resident Fartun Mohamed to the Mental Illness and Drug Dependency (MIDD) Advisory Committee.

Story

The Metropolitan King County Council on Tuesday confirmed the reappointment of Federal Way resident Fartun Mohamed to the Mental Illness and Drug Dependency (MIDD) Advisory Committee for a four-year term expiring on June 30, 2024.

“I appreciate Fartun’s willingness to continue serving in this position,” said King County Councilmember Pete von Reichbauer, who represents District 7.  “Her first-hand insight into the mental health and substance abuse challenges faced by many of our neighbors has been an asset as she serves on the MIDD Advisory Committee.”

As a registered nurse in the Inpatient Behavioral Health Unit at Swedish Medical Center, Fartun has provided care to psychiatric patients with complex mental health diagnoses and has worked at the Detox unit caring for those who were seeking treatment for substance abuse problems.

The King County MIDD Advisory Committee advises the County Executive and Council on matters related to the MIDD program managed and operated by the King County Department of Community and Health Services’ Behavioral Health and Recovery Division.  The MIDD Advisory Committee is a unique partnership of representatives from the health and human services and criminal justice communities, including providers and other stakeholders.
