Story

Today the Metropolitan King County Council confirmed the appointment of Auburn resident James Borsum to the Solid Waste Advisory Committee for a three-year term expiring on September 20, 2022.

As a union representative for Teamsters Local 117, James has been appointed to the Advisory Committee as the representative from a bargaining unit representing the greatest number of solid waste division employees. In his position as union representative, James currently represents hundreds of workers in the recycling industry who work in King County.

“With his background in the solid waste industry, James brings a wealth of experience to the Solid Waste Advisory Committee,” said Councilmember Pete von Reichbauer, who represents District 7 on the King County Council. “This background, as well as his experience as a union representative, will be vital in helping find solutions to the issues that our recycling and garbage collection industry are facing today.”

The Solid Waste Advisory Committee provides feedback to the King County Executive and Council on proposed council actions involving solid waste issues. They also assist the county in the development of solid waste programs and policies, and comment on proposed solid waste management policies, ordinances and plans prior to their adoption.
