A significant four-piece renter protection and affordable housing package is up for possible action at the King County Council’s Health, Housing and Human Services Committee on Tuesday.
Championed by Councilmember Larry Gossett and co-sponsored by Councilmember Jeanne Kohl-Welles, the package includes legislation that would form a new King County renters’ commission, establish new rules to better protect tenants from eviction, and create programs in Skyway and White Center to help displaced renters and develop a strategy to build and maintain affordable housing.
