King County Announces New Grant Opportunities for Unincorporated Area Projects

From planting trees to removing graffiti, there are a number of King County neighborhood improvement projects available for funding through the Community Service Area (CSA) grant program.

$90,000 is available for projects in unincorporated King County that cost less than $5,000. In the last seven years, more than 240 projects throughout unincorporated King County used funds from the program for a variety of tasks including:

• Supporting local senior centers and food banks;
• Youth projects;
• National Night Out events;
• Music and movie nights in local parks;
• Investments in neighborhood tool libraries; and
• Community signage.

“CSA grants provide our neighbors in King County the opportunity to come together to improve their neighborhoods through a variety of creative activities,” said Metropolitan King County Councilmember Pete von Reichbauer, who represents District 7 on the King County Council. “These volunteer-driven projects help strengthen our communities as neighbors engage with other neighbors.”

Proposals should demonstrate how activities would be accessible to all unincorporated King County residents regardless of race, income or language spoken. A minimum match of 25 percent of the total project cost is required in the form of volunteer time, cash, or in-kind services.
