Today, the King County Council approved $733,000 for the KidsQuest Children’s Museum from the Building for Culture program. The museum will use the funds to help pay for their recently-completed new location in downtown Bellevue.“KidsQuest is a valuable asset to the Eastside. The new facility allows more children and their families to play and learn through KidsQuest’s hands-on exhibits and innovative programming,” said Councilmember Claudia Balducci. “I’m so proud that we were able to provide funding to support the work they do for Eastside families.”
“KidsQuest provides hands on learning experiences that benefits residents throughout the county,” said Dunn. “I’m glad we as a county are continuing to support this great resource as they expand their services.”
KidsQuest encourages learning through play with an emphasis on science, technology, engineering, art and math (STEAM). They offer over 200 unique programs and serve approximately 208,000 visitors from around King County every year. This is the second time KidsQuest has received funding through the Building for Culture program. In total, the County has contributed $1,733,000 for KidsQuest’s newer, larger facility, which opened in January 2017.

Building for Culture is a partnership between King County and 4Culture, King County’s cultural services agency, using bonds backed by the hotel-motel tax to build, maintain, expand, preserve, and improve new and existing cultural facilities.
