Von Reichbauer Shredding Event Helps South King County Residents Prevent Identity Theft
Summary
“Events like this help inform our community about identity theft and prevent it from happening.”
Story
Metropolitan King County Councilmember Pete von Reichbauer hosted a mobile shredding event at the Saturday, October 7 Federal Way Farmers Market. Over 100 residents brought personal documents to be shredded at the event and were provided with information on how to prevent identity theft as well as where to find help if their private information is compromised.
This was the third mobile shredding event of the year. At previous events at the Federal Way Farmers Market in May and the Auburn International Farmers Market in June, approximately 300 people stopped by to shred sensitive papers.
Seadrunar, a secure document disposal company, provided the mobile shredding unit. Residents were able to watch their documents get shredded on a close-circuit camera.
