County and Issaquah collaborate on Traffic Solutions on Issaquah-Hobart Road

Metropolitan King County Council Vice Chair Reagan Dunn today introduced legislation, that will have King County partnering with the City of Issaquah to study traffic on Issaquah-Hobart Road. The corridor is experiencing increased traffic and travel time and the goal of the study is to gather data and conduct analyses of the corridor and recommend solutions to reduce congestion and collisions.

“I look forward to the results of this study and learning how we can work to improve traffic on this important regional corridor under a constrained financial environment,” said Dunn.

The corridor being studied runs along Issaquah-Hobart Road SE/Front Street between State Route 18 and Gilman Boulevard. Because part of this corridor is within the City of Issaquah, and part of the corridor is in unincorporated King County, and Interlocal Agreement is necessary to allow Issaquah to conduct the full traffic study. The County will pay for 50 percent of the traffic study costs.

The proposed legislation authorizes the County Executive to enter into an Interlocal Agreement with the City of Issaquah for the study, which will be done by the city.

The proposed motion will go to the Council’s Transportation, Economy and Environment for discussion and possible action.
