RECOGNITION |
WHEREAS, Neal R. Cook, MAI, is retiring from his position as Clerk/Manager of the King County Board of Appeals and Equalization on March 31st; and
WHEREAS, during his tenure with King County, Neal Cook led the Board through a technology based process to better serve the public and forever change the way the business of the Board is carried out; and
WHEREAS, the major accomplishments of Neal Cook include the multi-agency development and implementation of eAppeals; and
WHEREAS, with eAppeals, property owners can appeal their property valuations electronically, using the County’s innovative eAppeals website; and
WHEREAS, the National Association of Counties (NACO) recognized King County with an Achievement Award for eAppeals, a web-based app that allows people to search for comparable sales and submit that information along with their appeal; and
WHEREAS, under Neal Cook’s leadership and the cultural shift to continuous improvement, the Board is now receiving more than 50% of its appeals online, as the office moves to become a digital office; and
WHEREAS, Neal Cook has actively built strong relationships with city, state, and county leaders and the business community, with a positive impact on public trust;
NOW, THEREFORE, we, the Metropolitan King County Council, recognize and congratulate

on his retirement for his outstanding leadership at the King County Board of Appeals and Equalization and his dedication to serve the people of King County. We wish Neal and his wife Sandra well on the next chapter of their lives.
