Kohl-Welles to Chair Health, Housing and Human Services and Regional Water Quality

Summary

Will serve on three other County Council committees in 2016

Story

Metropolitan King County Councilmember Jeanne Kohl-Welles will direct two County Council committees after the Council adopted its 2016 committee assignments.

“I am honored to serve as chair of the Health, Housing and Human Services and the Regional Water Quality Committees,” said Kohl-Welles. “I look forward to meeting the challenges of the coming year and working towards a more equitable, healthy, vibrant and sustainable King County.”

As the chair of the Health, Housing and Human Services Committee, Kohl-Welles will be responsible for the panel that makes policy recommendations relating to public health, human services and housing programs.

Kohl-Welles will also chair one of the three regional committees of the Council, which includes elected officials from other local jurisdictions and provide a forum for development and review of countywide plans and policies. She will chair the Regional Water Quality Committee, which develops, reviews, and recommends countywide policies and plans for water quality. The committee considers sewer service issues, long range capital facilities plans, rate policies and facilities siting to guide King County’s regional water quality responsibilities.

Along with chairing the two committees, Kohl-Welles will also serve as a member on three other Council committees: the Law and Justice Committee, the Transportation, Economy and Environment Committee (TrEE) and the Government Accountability and Oversight Committee, where she will be Vice Chair.
