Auburn Benefits from the Passage of the 2015-2016 King County Operating & Capital Budget

Budget includes $8.3 million to Health Care

The Metropolitan King County Council today unanimously approved the county’s 2015-2016 Biennial Budget. This budget includes over $10 million directed towards public health, community services, and employment and education resources in Auburn and South King County.

“Auburn has evolving public service needs, and I am happy that Auburn benefitted from the 2015-2016 budget,” said County Councilmember Pete von Reichbauer, who represents South King County.

In particular, the Auburn Health Clinic stands to receive $8,390,000 to continue its services.

“By working together as partners with the City of Auburn, we were able to preserve the clinic, which will continue to provide important services to those most in need,” said von Reichbauer. “The allocation of funds during the budget process was extremely competitive and difficult, but I am happy to see that the negotiations resulted in this support for the City of Auburn.”

In addition to the funds allocated to the Auburn Public Health Clinic, the youth of Auburn will also benefit from this budget. Auburn Youth Resources and the Auburn/Federal Way Boys & Girls Club have each been awarded funds, in the amount of $175,603.

The Metropolitan King County Council serves as a regional government for more than 2 million residents, and also provides “local” government services for those who live in unincorporated communities. The approved 2015-2016 Budget will now be sent to King County Executive Dow Constantine for his signature.
