Preventing identity theft focus of von Reichbauer Town Hall meetings in Auburn and Federal Way

Summary

Law enforcement, King County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office to provide information on risks and prevention

Story

This past week, celebrities and politicians alike saw their private financial information posted on the internet, including credit reports, phone numbers, and social security numbers. Even Vice President Joe Biden and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton were victims of this hacking.

Are you at risk of having your identity stolen? Come to one of Metropolitan King County Councilmember Pete von Reichbauer’s town hall meetings in order to find out how you might be at risk and what you can do to protect you and your family from being victims of identity theft:

Tuesday, April 2:
Auburn High School Library, 800 4th St NE, Auburn,

Wednesday, April 10:
Federal Way High School Auditorium, 30611 16th Ave S, Federal Way

Both meetings will run from 6:00-8:00 p.m.

“With their private information made public, Biden and Clinton prove it can happen to anyone,” said Councilmember von Reichbauer. “I want my neighbors to know what they can do to protect themselves and resources are available to them if their private information is compromised.”

Invited speakers include knowledgeable representatives from the King County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, Attorney General’s Office, Federal Trade Commission, Washington Coalition of Crime Victim Advocates, as well as local law enforcement officials.
