Metropolitan King County Councilmember Reagan Dunn released this statement today on the announcement from the U.S. Department of Justice and other law enforcement agencies on their efforts to get tough on crimes involving firearms:“As a former federal prosecutor and the former national coordinator of the US Justice Department’s Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN) program, I am thrilled to learn that this program will be further utilized by federal prosecutors and King County Prosecutors.
“I co-authored Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), which is a nationwide commitment to reduce gun and gang crime in America by networking existing local programs that target gang and gun crime.
“I have introduced measures currently before the King County Council to deal with gang crimes and the increased gang presence here in King County. I’ve also joined the King County Prosecutor in calling for tougher measures for youth who commit crimes using guns.”
