Metropolitan King County Councilmember Pete von Reichbauer hosted his monthly breakfast meeting for south King County business and civic leaders with Washington State Lieutenant Governor Brad Owen in Federal Way. “We are fortunate to have Brad here this morning to explain to us his role as senate president as well as the potential effects of state budget cuts on south King County”, said Councilmember von Reichbauer.Lt. Governor Owen started off the meeting by speaking about his role as the senate president. He went on to praise the level of cooperation between Democratic and Republican Senators during the past session, saying, “I haven’t seen this level of cooperation in 35 years”. The Lt. Governor explained that compromises were made on both sides in regard to workers’ compensation reform and cuts to higher education. He gave his accolades to Governor Greigoire for her help with the progression of session.
The Lt. Governor opened up the floor for questions and comments about the state budget and the special session.
