On Wednesday morning, June 16th King County Councilmember Pete von Reichbauer hosted a breakfast meeting for south King County business and civic leaders with guest speaker King County Director of Transportation, Harold Taniguchi.“Under Director Taniguchi’s leadership, the Department of Transportation has done an exceptional job of working to improve transportation efficiency, with a limited amount of resources, during these challenging economic times,” said Councilmember Pete von Reichbauer.
As Transportation director, Taniguchi oversees Metro Transit, Road Services, the King County International Airport (Boeing Field), Fleet Administration and Marine Services. Taniguchi became the department director in 2002 and has been with King County since 1983 in various positions.
The roundtable discussion gave the leaders in attendance an overview of the current King County transportation projects, which included the recent improvements on freeway I-5, the Rapid Ride proposal, sustainable transportation funding, bus route changes and service draw backs.
