“I share Governor Gregoire’s deep concern about the impacts the state budget proposed today would have on the people of Washington and look forward to the budget she will propose in January to restore important safety net programs like the Basic Health Plan.

“Further, I applaud Governor Gregoire’s proposal to provide local governments such as King County the ability to help ourselves through more flexibility in how we can spend our limited resources. This action by the state would give counties a tool for funding priority services like public safety and public health in the face of shrinking revenues.”
