How we work with the community
The Mouth of Duwamish Wet Weather Facilities team will engage with the community through a variety of methods including, but not limited to:

Duwamish River Festival
August 3, 2024
Noon – 5 p.m. | Duwamish River People’s Park and Shoreline Habitat
Purpose
King County was once again a proud sponsor of the Duwamish River Festival on August 3. Our team spoke with community members in the area, raised awareness of the work, and promoted our online open house and survey from noon to 5 p.m. We connected with 194 attendees! Thank you to those who stopped by our booth and signed up for email updates. We look forward to continuing the conversation as this work progresses.

Georgetown Carnival
June 8, 2024
Noon – 6 p.m. | Historic downtown Georgetown
Purpose
The Georgetown Carnival, organized by the Georgetown Business Association, gathers families in the Georgetown neighborhood for a day of carnival games, live performances, music, arts and crafts, and vendors. The Mouth of the Duwamish Wet Weather Facilities team hosted an information booth at the Georgetown Carnival on Saturday, June 8, from noon – 6 p.m. to raise awareness of the work and to promote a recently launched Online Open House and survey.

SODO Flea Market
June 8, 2024

Purpose
The SODO Flea Market, hosted monthly, offers the community a vibrant gathering of over 60 vendors in the SODO area. Visitors can enjoy a wide range of antiques, vintage clothing, and handmade goods, all while savoring treats from food and coffee trucks. The market is family and pet-friendly, creating a welcoming atmosphere for all. The Mouth of the Duwamish Wet Weather Facilities outreach team attended the SODO Flea Market on Saturday, June 8, from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. to raise awareness of the work and to promote the recently launched Online Open House and survey.

SODO BIA Q2 Networking Event

Purpose
The SODO BIA hosts quarterly networking events for community members who own property, manage a business, or work in the SODO neighborhood. The event offers a unique opportunity to meet people who work in the neighborhood where they are without disrupting business operations. The Mouth of the Duwamish Wet Weather Facilities outreach team attended the SODO BIA Q2 Networking Event on Wednesday, June 5, from 4 p.m. – 6 p.m. to raise awareness of the work and to promote the recently launched Online Open House and survey.

Summer 2024 Online Open House
Between June 1 and August 31, 2024, King County hosted an online open house and survey to share information about the Mouth of Duwamish Wet Weather Facilities and gather community insights. While the survey is now closed, the online open house is still available with information about our efforts.

Purpose
King County held two virtual public meetings on June 18, 2024, from noon to 1 p.m. and June 27, 2024, from 9 to 10 a.m. to provide online opportunities for community members to engage with the Mouth of Duwamish Wet Weather Facilities team. During the presentation, King County shared an update on planning progress and invited input from participants using polls, a Q&A session, and a post-meeting survey.
