Public Safety Budget Town Hall | October 21, 2024
On Monday, October 21 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, I am hosting a Public Safety Budget Town Hall meeting, at Third Place Commons, 17171 Bothell Way NE, Lake Forest Park, WA 98155.
As a member of the Council’s Budget Leadership Team charged with writing the 2025 county budget, I am chairing the public safety budget panel. Our public safety budget at King County is under tremendous strain. From police to prosecutors to public defenders to courts and jails, costs are rising, service demands are increasing, and the county budget structure, which largely relies on property taxes is constrained under state law.
I have invited a panel of public safety and budget leaders to join us at this important meeting, to share with you what they are doing in their respective areas, explain the challenges and opportunities they see, and to hear your feedback and ideas on this essential government function. Your input will be important to me and my colleagues as we work on the 2025 county budget.
You can easily reach Third Place Commons via public transit using frequent service on Metro route 372 and 331, Sound Transit route 522 or our new Metro Flex service available in some communities. Use Metro Trip Planner to find the quickest route, bus times, and connecting routes.
If you have accessibility or language access questions or would like any additional information, please call my office at 206-477-1001. Please request language assistance in Español, 简体中文, Tiếng Việt, Русский, 한국어, українська, አማርኛ.
I hope you can join me!

Chair of the Council’s Transportation, Economy and Environment Committee
February 2024 | Each year, the Council reorganizes to select committee leadership and membership. This year I am serving as Chair of the Council’s Transportation, Economy and Environment Committee. The Committee held its first meeting on January 16, 2024. The meeting included a briefing from Metro General Manager Michelle Allison which can be watched here, on Metro’s long-term goals which are centered around hiring more Metro drivers and providing the safest system possible for its riders and drivers.
This year, I plan to focus the committee’s work on protecting our waterways, preserving open space, fighting climate change locally, as well as ensuring Metro Transit is safe, reliable and meets the transportation needs of our riders. The Transportation, Economy and Environment Committee meetings are held on the 3rd Tuesday of every month at 9:30AM at the King County Courthouse Council Chambers. You can also watch the meetings live here.
East African Senior Center meals at Northgate Community Center
June 27, 2023 | Loved stopping by the East African Senior Center Meal Program at the Northgate Community Center to talk about King County’s services and to share the good news of added funding I was able to secure in our recent budget for these culturally-appropriate meals. Enjoyed the Q&A session and the delicious lunch!
