Sustainable Purchasing Ordinance (KCC 18.20, 2018)

Builds on King County’s environmental standards dating back to 1989. Expands the definition of “sustainable” beyond environmental factors, clarifies agency responsibilities, and sets ecolabels and certifications as minimum requirements. Aligns purchasing with the Strategic Climate Action Plan (SCAP), Green Building Ordinance, and Equity & Social Justice initiatives.

Sustainable Purchasing Executive Policy (CON-7-22-1-EP) - 2023

Supports KCC 18.20 by consolidating policy requirements, promoting ecolabels and certifications, and integrating environmental, equity, and social responsibility into procurement decisions.
