Leave the car, hit the trail: Trailhead Direct returns May 28
King County Metro and King County Parks are teaming up to launch Trailhead Direct for the season. The weekends and holiday transit-to-trails service will begin Saturday, May 28, and run through Sunday, September 11.

Executive Constantine thanks John Diaz for his service as he prepares to step down in late June, after leading the Department of Adult and Juvenile Detention (DAJD) since 2019. Juvenile Division Director Allen Nance has been nominated as the next department director, overseeing King County’s adult jails, youth detention, community corrections, and other alternatives to secure detention.

Executive Constantine announces $21 million in King County Parks Levy grants that will connect trails, build parks, refurbish aquatic facilities, renovate community centers
The King County Council unanimously approved Executive Dow Constantine's plan to allocate more than $21 million in grant funding for 40 community-led projects that will connect trails, build parks, expand aquatic facilities, and renovate community centers. The funds are generated by the voter-approved King County Parks Levy.

Patti Cole-Tindall has been nominated to be King County Sheriff. The King County Council will host a hearing on May 18, followed by a confirmation vote.
