Ecolabels

An ecolabel is a symbol showing that a product, service, or company has been certified to meet environmental standards. It helps buyers know they are choosing more sustainable options.

King County follows ecolabels recommended by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), along with other trusted third-party certifiers, to ensure sustainable purchasing.

  • An EPA checkmark means the certification is recommended by the EPA.
  • A PFAS checkmark means the standard addresses PFAS (Per- and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances)—chemicals used in many products for water or oil resistance that are harmful to health and the environment.

This list may change over time. For questions about ecolabels, contact epp@kingcounty.gov
