Change my address

Learn how to change your residential or mailing address on your voter registration.

You can update your residential or mailing address online or by mail up to 8 days before an election or in-person through Election day. If you mail a registration update, it must be received, not postmarked, by the 8 day deadline.

Moving within King County

You can update your address online, by email, over the phone, by mail, or in-person.  

Online

You can change your address online, 24 hours a day at VoteWA.gov

To make address changes online, you will need either a:

  • current Washington State driver license, or
  • current Washington State ID card
  • last 4 digits of Social Security Number

If you do not have either of these, you can still change your address by mail or in-person.

Email our office with the following information:

  • Your name
  • Date of birth
  • Old residential and mailing address
  • New residential and mailing address

By mail

Download and print a voter registration form from the Secretary of State. Forms are available in many languages.

Mail your completed form to:

In-person

You can change your address in-person through Election Day at the King County Elections Office in Renton or a Vote Center.

Moving to another county in Washington

There are three ways to register to vote with your new county.

Online

Update your information online, 24-hours a day at the Secretary of State’s VoteWA.gov. You will need one of the following:

  • A current Washington State driver license,
  • A current Washington State ID card, or
  • Last 4 digits of Social Security Number.

Mail

Download and print a voter registration form and mail it to your new county's elections office. Forms are available in many languages.

Moving out of Washington State

Register to vote in your new state, then cancel your registration in King County.
