Call for Members to Form Pro and Con Committees for August Primary Election Ballot Measures
When a jurisdiction places a measure on the ballot, members of the public are appointed to pro and con committees. These committees prepare statements either in favor of, or in opposition to, the ballot measure. These statements are published in the local Voters’ Pamphlet and help voters make informed decisions.
If no committee is appointed by the jurisdiction, King County Elections can appoint committee members if any come forward.
The following measures have appointed pro committees, but no one has come forward yet to join a con committee:
- City of Seattle, Proposition 1
- King County Fire Protection District No. 43, Proposition 1
- Skykomish School District No. 404, Proposition 1
The following measures have no appointed pro or con committees:
- King County Fire Protection District No. 47, Proposition 1
- Snoqualmie Pass Fire & Rescue, Proposition 1
Members of the committees will be responsible for:
- Submitting a pro or con statement, following all guidelines, to King County Elections by 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 12.
- Submitting a rebuttal statement, following all guidelines, to King County Elections by 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 14.
If you want to be a member of a pro or con committee for any of these propositions, please email election.services@kingcounty.gov by 5:00 p.m. on Friday, May 8.
