King County Medical Examiner's Office Indigent Remains Ceremony June 4, 2025

News release summary

Summary

Summary The King County Medical Examiner's Office will host the 2025 Indigent Remains Ceremony at Mt. Olivet Cemetery Wednesday, June 4, at 10 am

Every few years, the King County Medical Examiner's Office (KCMEO) hosts a unique memorial to ensure that every King County resident is remembered. The KCMEO's Indigent Remains Program provides burial for King County residents who have died without resources or family to claim their remains for a proper burial. This program serves people whose families either could not be located or could not provide for the proper disposition of remains.

The names of the decedents who are part of this year's ceremony can be found on the Indigent Remains Program webpage. Some were people living homeless at the time of death, while others had housing but did not have funds or family to provide a proper burial.

Event details

The ceremony will take place on Wednesday, June 4, at 10:00 a.m. at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Renton (100 Blaine Ave NE, Renton, WA 98056).

It's open to media and any member of the public who wishes to pay their respects.

For more information about the ceremony or the Indigent Remains Program, see our recent blog post on Public Health Insider.
