Data request service
The Assessment, Policy Development, and Evaluation unit in Public Health – Seattle & King County shares population health data in our reports and dashboards, including Community Health Indicators. If none of our existing reports or indicators fit your data needs, and if your question is one which we have data to address, we can conduct a custom data analysis.
Submit your request through the web form below. If you're unable to use the web form, please call us at 206-263-8786 and leave a voicemail. We will respond to your inquiry the next business day.
Custom analysis policy
The first two hours of staff time for a particular data request/question is provided free of charge (this includes time for phone and e-mail consultation). Beyond two hours, we charge $120 per hour, with a three-hour minimum.
We are staffed Monday through Friday, excluding federal holidays. Our goal is to fulfill requests for custom analyses in three weeks or less, on a first-come, first-served basis. When our work plan does not permit us to answer requests within three weeks, a target completion date will be mutually agreed upon.
- Custom analyses that take two or fewer hours of total staff time to prepare will be free to the requester.
- The two-hour limit is specific to the requester, not the organization. Requesters from the same organization who are clearly working on different projects will be treated as separate requesters. The two-hour time limit is per calendar year.
- For data requests that take more than two hours:
- Staff time in excess of the first two hours will be charged at $120/hour, with a three-hour minimum. Please submit the form above to work with us to set up a contract.
- Please contact us with as much notice as possible to allow time for the contract to be finalized.

- Health departments in local health jurisdictions in Washington state, the Washington State Department of Health, other King County government departments, and other public governmental agencies in King County are exempt from fees to cover the costs of routine data requests. This includes internal requests from other Public Health — Seattle & King County divisions. However, all other agencies and individuals are covered by this policy.
