Engage with King County Employees

Annual Giving Drive

There are several ways nonprofits can get involved during the King County Employee Giving Program's Annual Giving Drive in the fall.

  • Speak at the worksite or virtually.
  • Table at a nonprofit expo or participate in the virtual expo.
  • Send materials to share.

How?

  • In August/September, prior to the Annual Giving Drive, we will send an email with worksite engagement details including how to get on the speakers’ bureau and register for a Nonprofit Expo. This email is the single most important communication for worksite engagement opportunities.  Slots for the in-person Expos fill fast.

Other ways to increase your visibility

  • Put it on your website – include workplace giving in your “ways to give” section.
  • Get the word out - contact your existing donors and ask them to be your champions in the workplace.
  • Make sure your contact info and speaking information is up to date – many of our Ambassadors rely on this list for data and contact information.

Program costs

Per King County Code, nonprofits share in the costs of the program. The average cost to nonprofits is 10% of distributions. Costs include items such as staff, marketing, vetting, processing, training, distribution, and fundraising. Learn more

Donor reports

Reports are automatically emailed out to contacts on file. If you are a member of a federation, all reports go to the federation. Please check with them.

Pledge Reports:
These reports tell the nonprofit organization how much was pledged and raised during the most recent Annual Giving Drive. They are emailed out after the completion of the Annual Giving Drive during first quarter of the following fiscal year. For example, the 2023 Annual Giving Drive happened in October-December 2023, reports were then emailed first quarter 2024.

Donor Reports:
While Pledge Reports tell you what was pledged for the year, Donor Reports are what was "actually" donated. There can be differences for several reasons including employees leaving employment, mid-year changes, etc. But for the most part donor reports should reconcile back to the pledge reports. These are sent out quarterly around the same time as the checks.

Please add EmployeeGiving@kingcounty.gov to your "safe" email list to ensure you receive all reports and notifications.
