On Tuesday, The King County Flood Control District (FCD) awarded over $10.5 million in grants to help reduce flooding across King County.

Thirteen cities, non-profits, and homeowner’s associations were awarded nearly $4 million to help reduce flooding in District 3.

“Flood Reduction Grants are a great way to help local jurisdictions, non-profits, tribal nations complete projects that will reduce flooding and protect our natural resources,” said FCD Supervisor and King County Councilmember Kathy Lambert. “These Flood Reduction Grants help communities and organizations quickly make targeted reductions in flooding, increase community resiliency, and provide improved fish passage.”

In 2021, the Flood Reduction Grants were expanded to create three new competitive grant programs specifically targeting urban stream, coastal erosion and coastal flooding, and culvert replacement and fish passage.

• Carnation Farms – Carnation Farms Riparian Planting
• Drainage Improvement District #7 – Levee Rebuilding in Cherry Valley
• City of Issaquah – Drainage improvements E Lake Sammamish Parkway – 56^th St. to 51^st St.
• Lakewood Shores Condominium Homeowners Association – Flood Reduction & Mitigation at Lakewood Shores Condominiums

Culvert Replacement / Fish Passage Grants

• King County Road Services Division – NE 24^th St. Culvert replacement
• Mid Sound Fisheries Enhancement Group - Cottage Lake Creek Weir Removal & Restoration
• Seattle Public Utilities – Tolt Bridge Siwash & Judd Creeks Fish Passage Restoration
• Snoqualmie Valley Watershed Improvement District – Langlois Creek Culvert Replacement

• Adopt a Stream Foundation – Friendly Village Flood Reduction Bridge Replacement Designs
