Metropolitan King County Council Vice Chair Reagan Dunn on Tuesday introduced a motion that would create a work group of local industry leaders to consult on how King County can best support economic recovery across the region.

“When we emerge from this pandemic, I want to already have a game plan in motion for how King County can be a partner in rebuilding our crippled economy,” Dunn said. “Our local businesses know best what help they will need — so let’s welcome them to the table. We will be stronger if we work together.”

Dubbed the Coronavirus Recovery Economic (CuRE) Council, the work group will include representatives of King County’s major industries including aerospace, hospitality, travel, construction, information technology, online sales, manufacturing, food production/distribution, and possibly others.

A King County Chief Economist would also be invited to participate, along with representatives of local Chambers of Commerce, the Washington Department of Commerce, and the King County Coalition of Unions.

Dunn’s motion will be heard by the King County Council Committee of the Whole on April 21. If approved, the CuRE Council will begin to be established by May 15, with a report due to the King County Council within three months.
