2021 King County Districting Committee
The 2021 King County Districting Committee is responsible for redrawing King County Council Districts using 2020 Census data. By law, district boundaries must be realigned every 10 years to reflect changes in population distribution.
The King County Districting Committee held a public hearing on November 30, 2021, in order to receive comment on the Districting Master’s draft redistricting plan. On December 1, 2021, the Committee considered the public comment and provided direction to the Districting Master to amend the draft plan in part. On December 1, 2021, the Districting Master transmitted the Amended Final Draft Districting Master Plan to the Committee. On December 8, the Committee adopted the Amended Final Draft Districting Master Plan.
The Committee transmitted the adopted plan to the Clerk of the Council on December 21, 2021. The boundaries as drawn in the adopted plan are now the new King County Council district boundaries.
The committee held a series of community listening sessions over the summer and town hall meetings in the fall. Learn more about the meetings here.
The King County Districting Committee is an independent, non-partisan committee made up of volunteers that includes four members appointed by the King County Council and a fifth member selected by the committee who also serves as chair.
Regular meetings of the Districting Committee are held on the second and fourth Thursday of the month from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. More details are available here.
The committee welcomes your questions, input, and public comment throughout the redistricting process at districting@kingcounty.gov.
