About the subarea plan
The subarea plan will include a vision for the Greater Maple Valley/Cedar River area over the next 20 years. It will include policies to help the community and King County government achieve that vision. The goal is to make real, equitable improvements in quality of life for everyone who lives, works, and plays in this area.
What it covers
- Land use and zoning
- Housing and human services
- Environment
- Parks, open space, and cultural resources

Input from communities in the area will be reflected in the King County Executive’s recommended subarea plan, which will be reviewed by the King County Council in 2026 and 2027. Once the council adopts the subarea plan, the plan will become part of the King County Comprehensive Plan.
